What To Expect During Your First Visit
Your first visit is all about you – your comfort, your dental health and your well-being…
Our practice is committed to providing you and your family with timely, safe, gentle, and state-of-the-art dental care. We understand that you or your child may feel anxious about visiting the dentist – you are not alone. Our practice puts forth an extra effort to make sure that you are comfortable and receive the best care possible every time you visit our clinic. We are sensitive to your needs as a patient and our team will provide you with individualized care.
Your first visit and complete exam with one of our dentists typically includes:
- A review of your concerns regarding your dental and medical history
- Any necessary x-rays of your teeth and jaws to facilitate proper diagnosis
- A set of photos to help evaluate symmetry, posture and function to further facilitate diagnosis
- A detailed examination of your teeth, gums, soft tissue, jaw joints as well as the “occlusion”, i.e. the way your teeth function together
- For adults (over 18 years old), a complimentary VELscope oral cancer screening
exam is also included
Once the examination is complete, our dentist and an experienced team member will provide you with a consultation. With the aid of photos and visual illustrations, we will explain in detail about the findings and any treatments you or your child may require. We will also provide you with information about prevention, so you can enjoy good oral health and overall well-being for the long term. During this time our dentist and knowledgeable staff will also answer any questions you may have. We welcome any questions and suggestions you may have and are always willing to listen to your concerns.
We are very excited to welcome you to our clinic as a new patient! Here are some details you should know before you arrive.
Due to privacy legislation, many insurance companies will not release information to us regarding your dental insurance plan, including what services are covered and to what percentage. For this reason, all patients are asked to pay for their services at the time of their visit. In most cases, we will do the work for you and help submit your claims automatically (where possible). You should then receive your reimbursement within 3-14 business days.
If you have dental insurance, we need only three things to help speed up your claims when you call to book for an appointment.
- Name of the insurance company
- Group number and ID number of the policyholder
- Birth date of the policyholder
We accept VISA, Mastercard, debit, and cash. We do not accept personal cheques.
Transferring from another office?
It couldn’t be any simpler. All we need is to know the name and phone number of the office you are coming from. If you have existing x-rays that were taken within the past 12 months, we will call your previous office on your behalf and request those x-rays be sent to us.
Just let us know when you book your visit and we will do all the work for you.
Please reserve at least 90 minutes for your first visit in order for us to perform a thorough examination. We will then review your intra-oral images and digital x-rays with you, and discuss in detail any particular concerns. If there are particular concerns, we will present you with treatment options in order of priority.
